With the support of my colleagues in the UW Quantitative Ecology Lab, I launched a community science program in Spring 2020 to monitor birds in the Pacific Northwest during COVID-19 lockdowns. We are currently working on analyzing the final data set, which includes bird observations from over 450 volunteers. We plan to collect data in 2021 and 2022 to monitor birds as lockdowns ease and human mobility returns to pre-pandemic levels.
