Ecology and Monitoring of Bird Responses to Smoke (EMBRS) is an interdisciplinary network of researchers committed to advancing knowledge of how wildfire smoke impacts birds. We aim to catalyze research in avian smoke ecology by connecting scientists across institutions and fields of knowledge to share findings, tools, resources, and best practices. We also serve as a coordination hub to respond to smoke events in real time, including organizing field campaigns and managing media inquiries.

Members of EMBRS:

• Receive and contribute to a quarterly eNews summarizing ongoing research activity
• Maintain a database of papers documenting impacts of wildfire smoke on birds for the public
• Meet virtually two times per year to share our science internally
• Connect at professional meetings, including the annual meeting of the American Ornithological Society
• Utilize our list_serv to share new papers, request peer feedback, and coordinate rapid-response research
